On-campus office makeover?

Now that I co-habitate, I've been spending a lot more time in my on-campus office, which is basically my advisor's storage space with a desk in it.
It needed a lot of sprucing up when I first started using it.  I  managed to procure an office chair from my advisor's lab, which I then awkwardly carried across campus with everyone staring at me.  I also rearranged the furniture, putting the desk in the corner, and the wooden chairs in what seemed like convenient places for visiting students to relax.

There is a nice "Women in Science" poster that was there when I moved in, and a lot of filing cabinets.  There are also boxes full of "hands-on" and "inquiry" science activities, and shelves of awesome kids books about bugs and dinosaurs.  I definitely have wasted hours of my time with those books.
There is also a lovely carpet cleaning device that maintenance left there several months ago and I guess forgot about?
But it definitely needs some more character.  I can't do anything drastic, as the office technically belongs to my advisor, and could leave my hands at any moment depending on the status of her grants.  But maybe a poster or two?  Tapestry?  Chandelier?  I'll keep you posted.

  1. This space has lots of potential. And a nice big window. I suggest adding a few touches of bright bold color (comfy pillows, posters, painting?) and you'll be turning people away who want to hang out.
